Beach Clubs

Bali is home to some of the world’s best beach clubs – a five minutes ride could take you to the laid-back vibes of La Plancha or the chic Cocoon – pool club by day and night club after dark.
Walking North along Seminyak Beach are Ku De Ta and its new swimming pool, Potato Head now housing Melbourne institution Movida.
Heading down to The Bukit are the private beaches of Finns and Karma Beach Bali, plus the international drawcard of Nikki Beach.

Bars & Clubs

Kubu is a short drive from the new Double Six Rooftop, MoonLite Kitchen & Bar at the Anantara Hotel, the colourful lights and characters of Dyana Pura, and Maria Magdalena for night owls.
Heading further into Seminyak, check out Jenja on Nakula Road and the iconic Red Carpet Champagne Bar, or swing by Motel Mexicola and La Favela, both serving up South American cuisine, drinks and tunes until very late.
If you spectacular sunsets, then head South to the clifftop El Cabron or the striking Rock Bar, and consider making a pit stop en route home for fresh seafood with your toes in the sand at Jimbaran Bay.

Dining

Seminyak is home to every conceivable cuisine in every type of setting: from the rolling gardens, fountains and fine dining of Sardine, Sarong and Metis, to the Asian delights with designer backdrops of Mamasan and Saigon Street, and the soaring ceilings of the stunning Merah Putih.

Coffee culture is thriving in Bali, with cafés of every shape and size around Kubu such as The Dusty Cafe and Zula Vegetarian Paradise, plus a whole raft of great beachfront cafés, including Zanzibar, Blue Ocean and Seaside to name but a few.
Exploring further afield is the organic charm of Betelnut in Batu Bolong, the French colonial grandeur of Watercress in Batu Belig, perfect patisserie at Monsieur Spoon, endless rice paddy views at Nook, or the French coffee bowls and at Revolver Espresso.

Shopping

Seminyak and surrounds are home to a myriad of shopping experiences: international brands at DFS Galleria and Beachwalk Shopping Centre, antique stalls on Jalan Kunti, the new Seminyak Shopping Village, and local designers famous overseas such as Biasa, Paul Ropp, Angel Jackson, By The Sea and Little Joe Woman by Gail Elliott; with 69SLAM, Bamboo Blonde, Rip Curl, Nico Nico and Surfer Girl for younger shoppers.

Culture

A 20-minute walk or short drive from Kubu uncovers Pura Petitinget, a small but perfectly formed Balinese temple, on a site which has housed a place of worship since the 16th century; but to really unlock the mysteries of the Island of the Gods, we recommend using one of our expert drivers as your cultural guide.
A half-day tour heading North or South could see you experiencing Bali’s spectacular sunsets from either the imposing clifftop temple at Uluwatu or the sea-temple at Tanah Lot, only accessible at low tide – both extremely beautiful and significant to Bali’s Hindu religion.
A full day’s trip can take you up into the dense rainforests of Ubud, Bali’s spiritual heart, where you can explore the Elephant Temple and cleanse your soul in the healing, holy fountains of the Water Temple.

Nature

Also to be discovered in Ubud is The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, an ecological reserve where up to 600 Balinese long-tailed macaques roam freely amount the towering trees and ancient temples, allowing guests to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures, especially if you have food in your pockets! In the surrounding hinterland, the more adventurous can visit the Bali Elephant Safari Park and ride on one of these sacred beasts.
Closer to Kubu, are the Bali Bird Park, Bali Zoo, and Bali Safari & Marine Park, all world-class wildlife facilities, dedicated to ecological conservation well as the delight of visitors of all ages.

Families

As well as our child-friendly villas and services, Villa Kubu is well-placed for several of Bali’s stand-out family destinations:
The 4-hectare Waterbom Bali, ranked as best waterpark in Asia and in the world’s top three by TripAdvisor, is less than 6 km to the South of Kubu; while to the North the renowned Canggu Club has been transformed into a family paradise, complete with Cubby House Kid’s Club, Bounce Trampoline, Strike Bowling and Splash Waterpark, as well as plenty of pampering for parents with a day spa, restaurant, bar and pool club.

Sport

The Canggu Club also houses world-class tennis, soccer and gym facilities, while a little further north is the spectacular, Greg Norman designed, clifftop Nirwana Bali Golf Course.
Much closer to home, Seminyak Beach is home to the famous Rip Curl Surf School, where many a surfer has gone from zero to hero during their Kubu vacation; while the nearby Mesari Stables can organise lessons for all ages and rides along the beach, through local villages and across the surrounding rice paddies.
Cycling is another great way of exploring the countryside to see the ‘real’ Bali – Kubu guests enjoy complimentary use of a fleet of well-maintained bicycles for all ages, while the more active can go mountain biking, canyon tubing, trekking and even volcano climbing up around Ubud.
